Get to know our staff just a little bit better.  Here are a few facts about our staff members.

Programming Staff

Darren Barrett:- Youth - This new Director of Youth Ministries just recently moved to the area with his family from Bettendorf, IA, along the Mississippi River.  In the past Darren has coached and refereed hockey, soccer and football.  He spend his free time with his family, cycling and playing hockey.

Connie McKeen:- Newcomer Ministries - Connie McKeen has served Walnut Hills on a part time basis since 1999.  Recently she accepted a new role as newcomers' ministry director.  The purpose of this ministry is to ensure that our growing church family will continue to be a warm, welcoming place for all who attend.  In addition to working for Walnut Hills, Connie is a trainer and management consultant with a passion for assisting others with skill building as well as system development.  When not working, time is spent with family and providing service to the community through a variety of volunteer roles in the Urbandale and Johnston communities.

Office Staff

Terri Paulson: Office Coordinator -

Julie Stone:  Assistant Office Coordinator - Responsibilities include keeping track of church funds and expenses, paying bills, staffing church committees, coordinating volunteers, working with the congregation and community and being knowledgeable about all aspects of the church office, staff and functions.  Shares duties with Terri and fills in for her when she’s out of the office.  Julie also enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage daughters and volunteering with the church youth group and high school band.

Mandi Arthur: Publications - Mandi works in the mornings specializing on the newsletter, bulletin, web site and other graphic design work that pertains to Walnut Hills. In the afternoon she is self employed as a Licensed Massage Therapist.  Mandi's ministry lies in her talents from her artistic abilities to her "magic hands" for massage. Her hobbies are a wide variety of activities. Some of them are dancing, costuming, acting and science fiction/fantasy.

Preschool Staff

Sue Petersen: The Director and one of the teachers at Walnut Hills Preschool.  She has taught 3-5year olds for over 25 years. Her joy comes in creating experiences for children to explore and discover God's wonderful world and to encourage a special friendship with Jesus.
