Walnut Way

Welcome to the Walnut Way

Walnut Way... a process for deepening your spiritual journey.

Walnut Hills invites you to experience Walnut Way and the Walnut Way Journey Groups (WWJGs).  Those interested in deepening their spiritual journey and who are interested in taking that journey with others, are placed in a small group with 6 - 10 individuals.
The group meets once a month for an hour to discuss the 6 compass points of Walnut Way;
W
orship in Community,
A
cts of Service,
L
earning,
N
onjudgmental Way of Life,
U
nfolding Spirit and
T
ithing.
Group discussion revolves around the question, "how is it with your spiritual journey?"
Groups are facilitated by a trained facilitator.
Participants may come to listen, to share,  to ask questions.
New groups are formed throughout the year.
If you are interested in more information, contact Martha Schut, check the stub or call the church office at 270-9226.

Readings on Journey - February 19, 2006

Narrator: On the Walnut Way, we seek to look around us and inside us and get to know ourselves and others who travel with us.  It is the journey not the destination that enriches our souls and helps us to serve others.  So listen in as we hear folks from many ages and around the world, tell us their opinions about “the journey”

Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. – Jesus

Because we do not rest, we lose our way.  We miss the compass points that would show us where to go, we bypass the nourishment that would give us succor.  We miss the quiet that would give us wisdom.   - Wayne Muller

There is more to life than merely increasing its speed   -Ghandi

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters, compared to what lies within us." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Journey is not in arriving but in the going
Work is not in harvest but in the sowing
Life is not in birth but in the growing
Growth is not being told but in the knowing.
- Bono

It is not the road ahead that wears you out – It is the grain of sand in your shoes. -Arabian proverb

All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware. - Martin Buber

The longest journey is the journey inwards. Of him who has chosen his destiny, Who has started upon his quest for the source of his being. - Dag Hammarskjold

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. - Jesus

The day on which one starts out is not the time to start one’s preparations. - Nigerian saying.

Every child has known God, Not the God of names, Not the God of don’ts, Not the God who ever does anything weird, But the God who only knows four words And keeps repeating them, saying: “Come dance with Me.” Come dance. - Hafiz

"If you are going to walk on thin ice, you might as well dance."- Anonymous

Breathing in, I calm my body. Breathing out, I smile. Dwelling in the present moment, I know this is a wonderful moment!- Thich Nhat Hanh

“Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... WOW! What a ride!” - Anonymous

Narrator:  So there you have it.  For as many people as there are in the world, each has a different journey.  Walnut Way is a way to share our journeys with each other.

For one hour a month, yes a month we meet in a small group, 6 to 10 people and share our journeys.  In particular we focus on the 6 compass points of Walnut Way …(readers hold up letters as these are read)  Worship, Acts of Service, Learning, Non-judgmental Way of Life, Unfolding Spirit, Tithing.  We are regular folks finding support in each other. You can come and just listen or you can share some of your journey.  The only qualification is that you be intentional about being on the journey.  Please come join us.  It is a great way to meet others.

Thanks.
